Liliana Diaz Bustamante, MD
Family Medicine (PGY-3)
Universidad Particular de San Martín de Porres- Lima, Peru
Dr. Diaz Bustamante began practicing medicine in her home city of Lima, Peru, where the vast healthcare disparities witnessed early in her training shaped her approach and mission as a physician. Her experience working collaboratively in underprivileged areas and with community members helped identify critical elements in fostering better healthcare outcomes, including the importance of community education and a proactive approach to patient care. Her goal is to be part of her community and learn firsthand about patients’ needs and priorities – providing holistic and compassionate care by practicing evidence-based medicine and including determinants of health in patients’ care. She has a particular interest in the areas of preventive medicine, full-spectrum medicine, palliative care.
Giang (Jan) Le Nguyen, MD
Family Medicine (PGY-3)
American University of Antigua – School of Medicine
Dr. Giang (Jan) Le Nguyen was born in northern California and grew up in Houston, Texas. She is a graduate from the University of Texas at Austin and received her medical education from the American University of Antigua – College of Medicine. During her gap year, she was a clinical research assistant in the division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine of Ob-Gyn at UT Health – McGovern. She is elated to be back on the west coast to train in Los Angeles. She feels privileged to provide comprehensive family care to residents of the San Fernando Valley and help narrow the gap in healthcare disparities. Her primary areas of professional interest include preventative care and physician wellness. One day she hopes to eat her way around the world and burn off those calories by playing tennis.
Amit Grover, MD
Family Medicine (PGY-3)
Kasturba Medical College Manipal, India
Amit Grover MD completed his medical education at Kasturba Medical College-Manipal, India. He continued his medical training at Charles R. Drew University which is associated with UCLA. He also worked for one year at Kedren Community Health Center, serving underserved groups living in South Los Angeles. Dr. Grover has published peer-reviewed articles about health disparities in minority groups
Andrew J. Kim, MD
Family Medicine (PGY-3)
American University of the Caribbean – School of Medicine
Born in South Korea, Dr. Andrew Kim grew up in Southern California. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of California Irvine and obtained his medical degree from American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine. Prior to residency, Dr. Kim worked as a Clinical Research Coordinator and a State-Licensed Assistant Physician in Missouri. His personal interests include a passion for Kendo, a Japanese sword fighting martial art. He has been a Kendo student/instructor for over 20 years.
Christina Pedro, MD
Family Medicine (PGY-3)
Indiana University – School of Medicine
Dr. Christina Pedro was born and raised in Hawaii, but she is very happy to be in Southern California. Before earning a medical degree and a master’s degree in Business Administration, she worked as a high school biology and chemistry teacher and as a clinical research coordinator at the University of Hawaii Cancer Center. Dr. Pedro is particularly passionate about making impactful change in women’s health and about improving the patient experience. Working in underserved communities with limited healthcare access fuels her desire to practice family and community-centered medicine. On her days off, Dr. Pedro enjoys baking, learning about different cultures, and soaking up the sun at the beach.
Phillip Feliciano, MD
Family Medicine (PGY-3)
University of Queensland – School of Medicine
Dr. Phillip Feliciano is originally from Staten Island, NY. He graduated from Cornell University and attended at the University of Queensland-Ochsner Clinical School in Australia. Training in two healthcare systems (Southern Queensland, Australia and New Orleans, Louisiana) has shaped him as a physician. As a member of the Latino community, Dr. Feliciano feels privileged to serve the Latino population and other underserved groups in Los Angeles.
Divya Manivannan, MD
Family Medicine (PGY-3)
Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute, India
Dr. Manivannan was born in Chicago, Illinois, and moved to India at the age of 6. She was raised in Chennai, Tamilnadu, where she received her medical degree from Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute. Inspired by working with community physicians, she sees family medicine as an opportunity to build long-term relationships with families and care for all ages and stages of life. Passionate about women’s health, she started a doula non-profit organization, helping underserved women access free doula care. She is highly interested in preventative care and treating patients holistically. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, blogging, baking with her daughter, and spending time with family and friends.
Daniel J. Yousefzadeh, MD

Saba University – School of Medicine
Dr. Daniel Yousefzadeh is a native Angelino, born and raised in West LA. He spent much of time in the San Fernando Valley visiting family and friends. Before graduating from Saba University School of Medicine, he earned a B.A. in History from the University of California, Los Angeles. At UCLA, Dr. Yousefzadeh joined Healing Hearts Across Border, a medical organization which provides medical care to the underserved in Tijuana, Mexico. One of his special interests includes interventional pain management. Dr. Yousefzadeh enjoys exploring cultures through culinary experiences and loves basketball, particularly the Lakers.
Sabrina Afroz, MD
Family Medicine (PGY-2)

Sabrina Afroz, born and raised in Bangladesh. After graduation, she started practicing medicine in Bangladesh and saw the impact that doctors can have on people’s lives. This inspired her to pursue a career in family medicine, as she believes it would be a privilege to partner with patients and help them achieve total wellness throughout their lives. During her residency, she hopes to learn from her patients and help them reach their health goals. She is interested in specializing in geriatric medicine and would like to pursue a fellowship in that field after completing her residency. Outside of medicine, she is an Indian classical dancer, and she enjoys spending time with family at home.
Kayvon Dehghanian, MD

Shiraz University of Medical Sciences
Dr. Dehghanian was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and raised in Shiraz, the cultural capital of Iran. He attended Shiraz University of Medical Sciences. After graduating in the top quartile of his class, he immigrated to the United States to pursue a career in Family Medicine. In 2022, he was accepted into the UCLA International Medical Graduate (IMG) Program. He saw the impact of social determinants on health outcomes while completing this program, solidifying his interest in becoming a family physician. His goal as a resident is to provide equitable healthcare with an emphasis on immigrant and refugee health. When not practicing medicine, Kayvon plays soccer and trains at the gym. He also enjoys reading business and finance books in his spare time.
Monique Gonzalez-Johnson, MD

Dr. Monique Gonzalez-Johnson grew up in the San Gabriel Valley area of California. After her graduation from The American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine, she continued her medical training at a private family medicine clinic in Montebello, CA. Her passion is to provide full-spectrum medicine to the residents of her community. She also aims to assist patients who confront health care disparities.
Natalia Henriquez, MD

Dr. Natalia Henriquez was born and raised in Santiago, Chile. She attended medical school in her hometown and later worked as a General Practitioner there. She is passionate about helping her patients preserve and improve their functionality, by providing evidence-based medicine that includes diet, exercise, and pharmacological treatments. Her goal is to use her knowledge to give comprehensive primary care to families in need. Her professional interests include preventive medicine, MSK ultrasound, and the non-surgical management of musculoskeletal pathologies. Outside of Medicine she enjoys exercising at the gym, running, reading, and enjoying beautiful Southern California with her loved ones.
Arghavan Jafarijozani, MD

Born and raised in a small town west of Iran, Dr. Jafarijozani (AJ), attended Tabriz of University of Medical Sciences and immigrated to United States where she is pursuing her career in Family Medicine at Mission community hospital. She loves writing, crafting, spending time with her family, her dog Happy and her cats Mooshe and Naomi.
Belonwu Okafor, MD
Family Medicine (PGY-2)
Nnamdi Azikiwe University College of Health Sciences
Dr. Okafor grew up in a small village in Eastern Nigeria with wide healthcare disparity and low health literacy. His parents were his mentors, instilling in him the values of compassion, integrity, and hard work. Based on these values , he has developed a passion for community health and making healthcare accessible to underserved patient populations. During his medical school in Nigeria, he organized medical outreaches and health fairs in rural communities. He was able to engage with locals, hearing their needs and priorities and experiencing firsthand the socioeconomic and cultural determinants of health. Today, he integrates these experiences in providing comprehensive care that is patient focused. Dr. Okafor served his country for a year in a local community hospital, where he made an impact by establishing an HIV clinic and improving community health literacy. Moving to the United States, he obtained a limited permit license to practice as a physician in New York under supervision. In this role, he served in an assisted living facility and a nursing home for HIV and addiction. It was an opportunity he utilized to create a judgment-free environment and to provide evidence-based care that is equitable to all. He is passionate about patient advocacy, learning, and sharing experiences. When not hanging a stethoscope around his neck, he socially engages with friends and family, exploring new cultures and cuisines. His favorite exercises are running and push-ups.
Alexandra Rabotin, MD
Family Medicine (PGY-2)
Hadassah Medical School
Dr. Rabotin, born in Ukraine and raised in Israel, holds a medical degree from the Hebrew University – Hadassah Medical School. Her passions lie in medical education and full-spectrum family medicine, with a keen interest in clinical informatics and medical innovation. In her leisure time, she enjoys CrossFit as well as exploring and photographing nature, having already visited 15 national parks with plans to uncover more.
Sabrina Wedee, DO
Family Medicine (PGY-2)

Dr. Sabrina Wedee grew up in the Bay Area and studied biological sciences at the University of California, Irvine. She then attained her medical degree at Touro University California College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Wedee is the first-generation college and medical school graduate in her family. While in medical school, she volunteered in community clinics and health fairs for low-income immigrant families, further growing her passion for providing compassionate patient-centered care to medically underserved communities and working towards systemically reducing healthcare disparities as a family medicine physician. Her professional interests include medical education, social determinants of health, integrative medicine, and serving medically underserved communities. In her free time, she enjoys playing tennis, pilates, golf, hiking, photography, visiting Disneyland, and exploring local boba milk tea spots in Los Angeles.
LeMar Hamilton, MD

Dr. LeMar Hamilton hails from the beautiful island of Jamaica. There he earned his degree in Experimental Biology from the University of the West Indies before graduating from the Medical Faculty at the same institution. He brings a strong background in Biology and passion for life to his practice which he infused while working briefly in General Practice before immigrating to the United States. His professional interests include preventative care, men’s health and sports medicine. Outside of his professional life, enjoys staying active at the gym, exploring the world art, reading, and discovering new culinary experiences at various restaurants.
Laura Ximena Hernandez, MD

Dr. Hernandez was born, raised and finished her medical school in Colombia. After earning her medical degree, she provided primary care at the only community clinic in a remote area of Northern Boyacá. In her role as head physician, she witnessed the drivers of social health and faced the challenges of community leadership. This experience heightened her awareness of the health system’s limitations and emphasized the importance of advocating for access to essential medical services. It was during this time that her passion for Family Medicine flourished, leading her to pursue a specialization in the field. In 2023, she joined the UCLA International Medical Graduate Program. During her clinical rotations at several UCLA-affiliated hospitals and clinics, she gained insight into the California health care system and the needs of California’s diverse underserved population. Outside of medicine she enjoys cycling and wilderness camping with her loved ones.
Haig Karsian, DO

Dr. Haig Karsian, a Los Angeles native, discovered his passion for medicine through his studies in anthropology at UCLA, where he focused on how culture and upbringing shape our healthcare experiences. He earned his medical degree with honors from Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona. Dr. Karsian’s approach is grounded in osteopathic principles, emphasizing the body’s natural ability to heal itself. With a special interest in exercise, nutrition, and mental health, he guides his patients toward holistic well-being through an integrated approach to healing the body, mind, and spirit. In his free time, he enjoys exploring LA’s diverse food scene, attending live music events, lifting weights, running, and playing tennis.
Sevak Nersesyans, MD

Dr. Nersesyans, originally from Iran, made his way to the U.S. at the age of 20 to chase his dreams in higher education. He earned his bachelor’s in biology from CSULA and continued his journey at Ross University School of Medicine. His passion for family medicine stems from his desire to care for patients across all ages, and he’s a strong believer in the transformative power of medical research for the future of medicine. Here’s a fun twist: before diving into medical school, Dr. Nersesyans worked as a medical transport driver, shuttling patients to and from Mission Community Hospital—little did he know he’d be returning as their physician one day! Outside of medicine, he’s an avid soccer player who loves hitting the field with friends and enjoys playing tennis with his wife. Family time is precious, especially with his dog, Figo, who’s named after the Portuguese soccer legend Luis Figo.
Moadh A. Saef, MD

Dr. Moadh Saef was born in Yemen and grew up in Bakersfield California, where he studied biology at CSUB. Driven by his passion for biology, he pursued a career in medicine and graduated from the American University of Antigua College of Medicine. Committed to helping underserved communities, Dr. Saef has served in various underprivileged areas both domestically and internationally. In his free time, he loves exploring beaches, forests, and parks with his wife and three children. He also enjoys gardening, sports, ceviche, and sushi.
Atoosa Shahriari, MD

Atoosa Shahriari grew up in a small, loving family in Tehran. After finishing medical school in Tehran, She had the wonderful experience of working and volunteering in rural and underserved areas, where she learned about the significant impact family medicine physicians have on their communities. She enjoys talking to patients from all walks of life and believes that a person’s well-being includes both physical and spiritual aspects which maintaining health in both areas is important. Outside of medicine, Atoosa enjoys walking in nature, dancing Zumba, traveling around the world with her family, and teaching her parrot new words.
Chidiebere Udechukwu, MD

Dr Udechukwu was born and raised in the eastern part of Nigeria. He completed his medical education at Kharkov National Medical University, Ukraine. After moving to the United States, he worked in the Hematology/Oncology department at UCI Medical Center as a Clinical Research Coordinator. He also worked as a Clinical Research Associate at Masimo Corporation, Irvine where he played a key role in advancing medical technologies. Dr Udechukwu is passionate about making healthcare accessible to all, particularly to those who face cultural, socioeconomic, and language barriers. His goal is to develop and implement healthcare solutions that are tailored to the individual needs of vulnerable populations, ensuring that everyone has access to quality care. Outside of his professional work, Dr. Udechukwu cherishes time with his family and enjoys playing and watching soccer, a sport that connects him to his roots and community.
Arthur Peter Yagubyan Jr., MD

Dr. Arthur Peter Yagubyan was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. He attended California State University, Northridge where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biology. Driven by a passion for medicine and a desire to help others, he pursued his medical degree at St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. Dr. Yagubyan fell in love with family medicine due to the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with patients while providing a broad scope of care that benefits both individuals and their communities. As a first-generation college and medical school graduate in his family, Dr. Yagubyan is dedicated to providing comprehensive care to the residents of his community. His professional interests include sports medicine and preventive medicine. He is excited to bring his enthusiasm for primary care, advocacy, and health equity to MCH Family Medicine. Outside of medicine, Dr. Yagubyan enjoys spending time with his family and friends, watching movies, and playing basketball.
