Resident Salary Information
First Year Resident (PGY – 1) $65,442
Second Year Resident (PGY – 2) $67,808
Third Year Resident (PGY – 3) $70,564
BENEFITS
Mission Community Hospital offers a comprehensive benefits package for residents, including medical, dental, vision and other benefits. Coverage is also offered for family members at an additional cost to the resident. The information below provides a brief overview of benefits available to our residents.
Health Plan / Dental Coverage
Health care coverage is available under the MCH health plan for medical and optical expenses for resident, resident’s spouse and/or dependent children.
Disability / Life Insurance
A guaranteed issue, group long-term disability plan and term life insurance plan is provided at the hospital’s expense.
Sick Leave
In addition to paid time off, residents are eligible for short-term and long-term disability benefits.
Paid Time Off (PTO)
PTO includes Thirty (30) days per residency year. PTO cannot be taken on some rotations. No pay is given in lieu of unused PTO. Also, residents will have four, 24-hour periods (one day in seven) free of patient care responsibilities each month, averaged over four weeks. There are also six paid holidays per year and include: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day.
Educational Leave (CME)
Residents receive 5 days of continuing medical education leave.
Malpractice Insurance
The hospital will provide, without cost to the resident/fellow, professional liability coverage for residency related training.
Educational Allowance
All Residents have $1,000.00 in allowance per academic year. Eligible expenses are defined as those that contribute to the knowledge base of the Resident for the practice of Family Medicine. These expenses are approved at the discretion of the Program Director.
Professional Fees, Licenses and Dues
All Residents have $1,000.00 in Board Fees, Licenses and Dues allowance per academic year. This category covers those expenses required by Hospitals Medical Staff or State/Federal entities for Licenses and Dues in order to practice medicine. Licenses and Dues reimbursements are accepted according to the discretion of the Program. All Licenses and Dues requests must be approved by GME administrator/Director at MCH.
On-Duty Meal Allowance
Monthly meal allowances provided.
Resident Wellness
Every consideration is given to provide support and resources to assist residents in finding an appropriate work balance. Further information is available through the GME office and program coordinator.
White Coats and Scrubs
Two MCH-embroidered, personalized white coats and hospital scrubs are issued at the beginning of the initial year of the GME Program at MCH. One (1) additional coat will be provided at the start of Years 3 and 4.
Employee Assistance Program
Our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offers free counseling services to help you and your loved ones deal with issues or problems that could potentially affect resident health, relationships, or job performance.
Fatigue Mitigation Transportation Program
We care about resident safety! If a resident is too fatigued to safely drive home after a call shift, MCH will cover the cost of the ride home as well as the ride back to work the next day.
Moonlighting
Moonlighting is allowable during PGY-2 and PGY-3. However, no moonlighting opportunities are allowed during PGY-1.
Parking
Free parking is provided for both the hospital and clinic.
