Meet Our Faculty and Staff
Conrado Sevilla, M.D., DFAPA
Program Director, Psychiatry Residency Training Program
Dr. Sevilla is the Psychiatry department chairman and the Program Director of the Psychiatry Residency training at Mission Community Hospital. He oversees the residents, faculty, administration, and medical students. Dr. Sevilla is also an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry & Bio-behavioral Sciences at UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine and previously was the Medical Director of the Olive View Urgent Care/ Crisis Stabilization Unit. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and the recipient of numerous awards.
Gabriela V. Obrocea M.D., Ph.D.
Core Faculty, Director of Research and Chair of Academic Affairs
Dr. Obrocea is a board-certified specialist in psychiatry with fellowship training in neuro-psychopharmacology and biological psychiatry with emphasis in the area of cyclic mood disorders. Dr. Obrocea obtained her MD degree in 1986 from the Institute of Medicine and Pharmacy – Faculty of General Medicine, Bucharest, Romania, with academic distinction. She obtained her PhD degree from the University of Ottawa, School of Graduate Studies and Research in 1998. Dr Obrocea has published numerous manuscripts on cyclic mood disorders and has been the recipient of multiple awards from the State Department of Mental Health for excellence of care on clinical research to mentoring psychiatry residents. As the recipient of numerous awards for her distinguished work in the field of psychiatry, Dr. Obrocea also serves as a tenured faculty member in the Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences department at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine.
Colin Dias, M.D.
Core Faculty, Associate Program Director
Dr. Dias is a double board-certified physician and surgeon in California with an emphasis in the areas of addiction medicine, along with adult, adolescent, and child psychiatry. Prior to entering private practice, he held distinguished posts at the Keck USC School of Medicine where he also completed his residency and fellowship. These posts included being the Medical Director of Psychiatric Emergency Services for 7 years, Chief of the Department of Psychiatry for nearly 10 years and a faculty member at the university. As a Clinical Assistant Professor, he taught Psychiatry to medical students, interns, and resident physicians. Dr. Dias also directs a private practice in addiction medicine and psychiatry. Over the last 18 years, he has helped thousands of patients to successful recovery and return to productive life by treating substance abuse, alcohol abuse and dual diagnosis disorders.
Barbara Ackerman, BSN, RN, PhD.
Core Faculty, Clinical Psychologist
Dr. Ackerman earned a BSN from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh and a PhD from California School of Professional Psychology – Fresno. She completed the Behavior Science/Family Systems Educator Fellowship with STFM in 2014 and the Leadership Fellowship with the California Health Care Foundation at UCSF in 2020. A teacher in Family Medicine since 2011, Dr. Ackerman enjoys her various roles as educator, clinician, administrator, and researcher. Her professional interests include serving the underserved and providing whole person (integrated) health care. Outside of work, she enjoys English mysteries and jazz.
Eugene Pahk, M.D.
Core Faculty, Neurology
Dr. Eugene Pahk is a Los Angeles County native. He graduated cum laude with B.S. in Biology at the University of California, San Diego. After spending time working in the fields of biotechnology and electronic healthcare software, he graduated from the Technion Institute of Technology in Israel, one of the top technical institutes in the world. He then went on to complete his residency in Neurology at Northwell Health, the largest health system in New York before returning to California. Dr. Pahk has trained at a multitude of centers across the United States and has extensive training in the management of dementia, stroke, migraines, headaches, and other neurologic conditions and is currently a member of the American Academy of Neurology.
Jason Lee, M.D.
Core Faculty, Psychiatry
Dr. Lee received his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine. He is a Board-Certified Psychiatrist with a passion to providing personalized care for the older adult population and he specializes in the areas of behavioral management of neurocognitive disorders and neuromodulation. He also works with previously untreated adult ADHD patients and has experience in both diagnosis and treatment management.
David Kagan, M.D.
Core Faculty, Internal Medicine
Dr. Kagan is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley, Haas School of Business (MBA, MPH) and Rush University School of Medicine (MD). He is an experienced physician executive, medical director and entrepreneur focused on redesigning care delivery. He has built and managed both an inpatient and outpatient medical practice, along with deep experience in clinical operations and understanding how to optimize delivery along the entire care continuum. Dr. Kagan is also experienced in designing tools and incentives to drive performance excellence, tracking, and improving utilization management and acting as an effective conduit between physicians and management. He capitalizes on ten years of frontline clinical experience to design novel solutions to the problems current healthcare systems face with a specific focus on medical groups.
