Genesy was born and raised in Houston, Texas. She earned her degree in Nutritional Sciences from Texas Tech University, then went on to complete her medical education at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in Lubbock. She will begin her radiology residency in Houston next fall. Outside of medicine, Genesy enjoys baking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

Andrea Benson, MD

University of Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences

Andrea grew up in Rochester, NY and received her Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Cornell University. An engineer at heart, Andrea was always drawn to problem solving but was passionate about finding ways to help others and give back to the community. After working as a software developer in the health-tech space, Andrea went on to complete her MD at the University of Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. Her combined interest of medicine and innovation has led her to pursue interventional radiology. After completing a transitional year at Mission Community Hospital, Andrea will go on to be an integrated interventional radiology resident at Emory University. Outside of the hospital Andrea enjoying being active playing soccer and pickleball, traveling, and spending time with her cat Obi.

Kevin Choi, MD

Dr. Choi was born and raised in Los Angeles and spent much of his adolescence in the San Fernando Valley. He earned his B.A. in Public Health Studies from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. He then returned to Southern California to attend medical school at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. Following the completion of his transitional year internship, he will begin his residency in Interventional Radiology at the University of Southern California. Outside of medicine, he enjoys playing golf and snowboarding.

Davin Evanson, MD

Dr. Davin J. Evanson was born and raised in Alberta, Canada. After high school he spent two years in Las Vegas on a Church Service Mission. He then earned a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience, graduating Cum Laude, from Brigham Young University in Provo, UT, while also competing in collegiate-level rugby. Growing up surrounded by those in the medical field and receiving personal care for sport injuries, Dr. Evanson always knew he wanted to pursue a career within medicine. After college, he attended Drexel University College of Medicine at Tower Health in Reading, PA. His dedication to coursework, patient care, research, and leadership earned him induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Dr. Evanson developed a passion for Anatomy and Radiology during medical school. Following his transitional year at Mission Community he will begin a Diagnostic Radiology residency at Creighton University in Phoenix, AZ. In his free time, Dr. Evanson enjoys spending time with his wife and children, traveling, hiking, following Dodger baseball, and all things Disney.

Jonathan Eyshi, MD

Jonathan Eyshi was born in Miami and raised in Los Angeles, where his passion for medicine grew through community involvement and a desire to improve access to care. He completed his undergraduate degree in Sociology at UCLA and returned to Miami for medical school at FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. His academic journey has been shaped by resilience, adaptability, and a strong commitment to service. Jonathan is passionate about anesthesiology, with interests in perioperative care, critical care, and patient advocacy. Outside of medicine, he enjoys surfing, running, snowboarding, and spending time with friends and family.

Yohannes Haile, MD

Dr. Yohannes Haile is a lifelong resident of Riverside County. He pursued his education locally, earning an Associate’s degree from Mt. San Jacinto College before achieving a Bachelor of Science in Biology with Honors from the University of California, Riverside. He continued at the UCR School of Medicine, earning his M.D. Throughout his academic journey, Dr. Haile demonstrated a strong commitment to service, volunteering extensively and building a robust research foundation across multiple departments and hospital systems. This work, often on oncologic, radiological, and rare disease topics, led to numerous peer-reviewed publications and abstract presentations at regional and national conferences. Dr. Haile aspires to pursue a career in diagnostic radiology with the goal of future fellowship specialization. Outside of medicine, he remains a sports enthusiast, enjoying live basketball and football games and continuing to explore the scenic trails of Southern California.

Benjamin Kashanchi, DO

Ben was born and raised in Newport Beach, California. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), earning a Bachelor of Science in Psychobiology. He went on to receive his medical degree from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. Ben is currently considering a career in psychiatry, neurology, or radiology, and is excited to further develop his clinical skills during his transitional year.

Dana Mahin, MD

Drexel University College of Medicine

Dr. Dana Mahin was born and raised in Toronto and has moved frequently throughout her life. She attended high school in Michigan and earned her undergraduate degree in biology and anthropology from the University of Michigan. She then took two gap years, during which she conducted research in translational genomics at the University of Southern California and participated in clinical volunteering. She later moved to Philadelphia to attend medical school at Drexel University College of Medicine. Following her Transitional Year, she will continue her training at the University of California, Irvine, where she will complete her Radiology residency. In her free time, Dr. Mahin enjoys spending time with family and friends, going to the beach, reading, horseback riding, swimming, and traveling.

Jeffrey Quezada, MD

A native of the San Fernando Valley, Jeff grew up in Glendale, CA before attending the University of California Santa Barbara where he played Division 1 soccer and graduated with a B.S. degree in Biopsychology. He then worked as a researcher at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Neurological Institute, evaluating the utility of various neuroimaging techniques for the preoperative and postoperative management of hydrocephalus and other congenital neuroanatomical disorders. He obtained his medical degree from the University of California Irvine but is very excited to return to Los Angeles to complete his transitional year at Mission before pursuing diagnostic radiology residency at UCLA. In his free time, Jeff enjoys spending time with his wife and family, reading, skiing, pickle-balling, and cheering on his beloved LA Dodgers and Lakers.

Niveda Rao, MD

Dr. Niveda Rao grew up in Placentia, California and earned her BS in Biochemistry from California State University, Fullerton before completing her medical degree at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. During medical school, she was actively involved in curriculum development, mentorship, and clinical research. She served as President of the Anesthesia Student Interest Group, Admissions Representative for the Class of 2025, and a Rheumatology specialty clinic manager at the UCSD Student-Run Free Clinic. As a 2022-2023 UCSD Sanford Institute Summer Research Scholar, she explored themes of empathy and compassion in medical education by studying medical students’ experiences during dissection in the anatomy lab. Outside of medicine, Dr. Rao enjoys listening to podcasts, going to the beach, travelling, and exploring new restaurants with friends and family. She looks forward to working and learning at Mission Community Hospital.

Zachory Taylor, DO

Originally from Southern California, Dr. Zach Taylor earned his bachelor’s degree in Biology at Oberlin College in Ohio while playing collegiate football. He went on to attend Western University of Health Sciences COMP-NW in Lebanon, Oregon, and is thrilled to finally be back home serving the community that shaped him. Before medical school, Zach worked at one of Los Angeles’ first COVID-19 vaccination sites, an experience that deepened his commitment to public health and community care. He is passionate about pursuing a career in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, inspired by a deep appreciation for the body’s resilience and the profound connection between physical and mental wellbeing. Outside of medicine, Zach enjoys spending time with family, watching basketball and college football, grilling, cooking, traveling and playing pickleball.

Brandon Towns, MD

The son of two military veterans, Dr. Brandon Towns spent his early years moving throughout Texas and other Southern states. He eventually settled in Los Angeles, where he earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). After graduation, he stayed on campus as a research coordinator, helping to manage clinical trials focused on treating alcohol and drug addiction. Dr. Towns continued on to receive his medical degree from the Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine. As a proud member of the Black community, he is passionate about increasing healthcare access and serving historically underserved populations. Outside of medicine, Dr. Towns is a freelance photographer who enjoys exploring new locations and creative projects whenever he gets the chance.

Sona Trika, DO

Dr. Sona Trika earned her Bachelor of Arts in Cognitive Science from the University of California, Berkeley, and her medical degree from Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California. Her commitment to health equity is grounded in years of volunteer work with LGBTQ+ communities and underserved patient populations. After completing her Transitional Year at Mission Community Hospital, Dr. Trika will continue her training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at the University of California, Irvine. She is particularly passionate about brain injury rehabilitation, disability advocacy, and mentoring the next generation of physicians. A dedicated educator and advocate, Dr. Trika is excited to support medical students through both formal teaching and personalized mentorship. Outside of medicine, she enjoys hiking Southern California’s scenic trails, people-watching at local coffee shops, and pampering her calico cat with treats.
