Job Description:
Mission Community Hospital, a 145-bed acute care facility located in the San Fernando Valley, is currently searching for 1 Full-time, Night Shift, RN in the ICU Unit.
Required
- Able to perform routine patient-care activities; physical strengths to assist patients in ambulating, turning in bed, and transferring in and out of bed or wheelchair.
- Good communication skills. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Able to perform simple arithmetic calculations.
- Ability to understand and use medical terminology.
- Current BLS/CPR
- FIRE Card obtained within 60 days of employment
- Initial MABPRO MAB or current MABPRO certification by completion of unit orientation
- Advanced MABPRO certification by completion of unit orientation
Preferred
- Six months as a Mental Health Worker, Certified Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Technician, Medical Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic preferred.
- Minimum of six months adult Behavioral Health preferred, Acute Care, Long Term or sub-acute direct patient care experience within the last two years preferred; or a minimum of six months experience providing direct care, monitoring, and/or evaluation of individuals diagnosed with mental illness/disability or a medical condition.
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for independently utilizing the nursing process to safely, therapeutically and efficiently care for a group of patients based
on policies and procedures. Delivers individualized quality patient care through a coordinated team approach with physicians, staff, other departments, as well as the patient and their families. Complies with the California Nurse Practice Act, Article 2, Section
2725 of the Business and Professions Code.
Job Duties:
Asesses patient according to the department guidelines and anticipates changes in patient status.
- Assesses and reassesses pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
- Identifies and anticipates potential patient care problems, and is able to identify changes in patient condition.
- Assessments are initiated and completed within the timeframe specified on the unit.
- Assessments include complete and accurate information pertaining to physiological, including functional and nutritional screening,
psychosocial growth and development, teaching and discharge planning needs. - Based on knowledge of growth and development identifies and communicates age-appropriate data about the patient’s status. Determines age specific needs, develops individualized patient care plan based on nursing diagnosis and provides
the care needed. - Subject to many interruptions from multiple calls and inquiries and potentially emotional situations involving accidents, injuries,
illness and/or death.

- Current
license with the California State Nursing Board - Ability to interact with patients, families, physicians, ancillary services and
community resources and supportive agencies. - Ability to maintain confidentiality – HIPPA
- Efficient level of organizational skills.
- Proficient frontline communication skills.
- Demonstrated written/verbal communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in computer operations.
- Certifications required:
- BLS
- ACLS
- FIRE CARD (within 90 days of hire)
- MAB (Within 30 days of hire)
- NIHSS Certification
- Arrhythmia/Dysrhythmia(EKG) course – preferred
- PALS – preferred
- TNCC, and CCRN preferred
- BSN preferred
