Genesy Aickareth, MD

Genesy was born and raised in Houston, Texas. She earned her degree in Nutritional Sciences from Texas Tech University, then went on to complete her medical education at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in Lubbock. She will begin her radiology residency in Houston next fall. Outside of medicine, Genesy enjoys baking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

Andrea Benson, MD

Andrea grew up in Rochester, NY and received her Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Cornell University. An engineer at heart, Andrea was always drawn to problem solving but was passionate about finding ways to help others and give back to the community. After working as a software developer in the health-tech space, Andrea went on to complete her MD at the University of Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. Her combined interest of medicine and innovation has led her to pursue interventional radiology. After completing a transitional year at Mission Community Hospital, Andrea will go on to be an integrated interventional radiology resident at Emory University. Outside of the hospital Andrea enjoying being active playing soccer and pickleball, traveling, and spending time with her cat Obi.

Kevin Choi, MD

Dr. Choi was born and raised in Los Angeles and spent much of his adolescence in the San Fernando Valley. He earned his B.A. in Public Health Studies from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. He then returned to Southern California to attend medical school at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. Following the completion of his transitional year internship, he will begin his residency in Interventional Radiology at the University of Southern California. Outside of medicine, he enjoys playing golf and snowboarding.

Davin Evanson, MD

Dr. Davin J. Evanson was born and raised in Alberta, Canada. After high school he spent two years in Las Vegas on a Church Service Mission. He then earned a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience, graduating Cum Laude, from Brigham Young University in Provo, UT, while also competing in collegiate-level rugby. Growing up surrounded by those in the medical field and receiving personal care for sport injuries, Dr. Evanson always knew he wanted to pursue a career within medicine. After college, he attended Drexel University College of Medicine at Tower Health in Reading, PA. His dedication to coursework, patient care, research, and leadership earned him induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Dr. Evanson developed a passion for Anatomy and Radiology during medical school. Following his transitional year at Mission Community he will begin a Diagnostic Radiology residency at Creighton University in Phoenix, AZ. In his free time, Dr. Evanson enjoys spending time with his wife and children, traveling, hiking, following Dodger baseball, and all things Disney.

Jonathan Eyshi, MD

Jonathan Eyshi was born in Miami and raised in Los Angeles, where his passion for medicine grew through community involvement and a desire to improve access to care. He completed his undergraduate degree in Sociology at UCLA and returned to Miami for medical school at FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. His academic journey has been shaped by resilience, adaptability, and a strong commitment to service. Jonathan is passionate about anesthesiology, with interests in perioperative care, critical care, and patient advocacy. Outside of medicine, he enjoys surfing, running, snowboarding, and spending time with friends and family.

Yohannes Haile, MD

Dr. Yohannes Haile is a lifelong resident of Riverside County. He pursued his education locally, earning an Associate’s degree from Mt. San Jacinto College before achieving a Bachelor of Science in Biology with Honors from the University of California, Riverside. He continued at the UCR School of Medicine, earning his M.D. Throughout his academic journey, Dr. Haile demonstrated a strong commitment to service, volunteering extensively and building a robust research foundation across multiple departments and hospital systems. This work, often on oncologic, radiological, and rare disease topics, led to numerous peer-reviewed publications and abstract presentations at regional and national conferences. Dr. Haile aspires to pursue a career in diagnostic radiology with the goal of future fellowship specialization. Outside of medicine, he remains a sports enthusiast, enjoying live basketball and football games and continuing to explore the scenic trails of Southern California.

Benjamin Kashanchi, DO

Ben was born and raised in Newport Beach, California. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), earning a Bachelor of Science in Psychobiology. He went on to receive his medical degree from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. Ben is currently considering a career in psychiatry, neurology, or radiology, and is excited to further develop his clinical skills during his transitional year.

Dana Mahin, MD

Dr. Dana Mahin was born and raised in Toronto and has moved frequently throughout her life. She attended high school in Michigan and earned her undergraduate degree in biology and anthropology from the University of Michigan. She then took two gap years, during which she conducted research in translational genomics at the University of Southern California and participated in clinical volunteering. She later moved to Philadelphia to attend medical school at Drexel University College of Medicine. Following her Transitional Year, she will continue her training at the University of California, Irvine, where she will complete her Radiology residency. In her free time, Dr. Mahin enjoys spending time with family and friends, going to the beach, reading, horseback riding, swimming, and traveling.

Jeffrey Quezada, MD

A native of the San Fernando Valley, Jeff grew up in Glendale, CA before attending the University of California Santa Barbara where he played Division 1 soccer and graduated with a B.S. degree in Biopsychology. He then worked as a researcher at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Neurological Institute, evaluating the utility of various neuroimaging techniques for the preoperative and postoperative management of hydrocephalus and other congenital neuroanatomical disorders. He obtained his medical degree from the University of California Irvine but is very excited to return to Los Angeles to complete his transitional year at Mission before pursuing diagnostic radiology residency at UCLA. In his free time, Jeff enjoys spending time with his wife and family, reading, skiing, pickle-balling, and cheering on his beloved LA Dodgers and Lakers.

Niveda Rao, MD

Dr. Niveda Rao grew up in Placentia, California and earned her BS in Biochemistry from California State University, Fullerton before completing her medical degree at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. During medical school, she was actively involved in curriculum development, mentorship, and clinical research. She served as President of the Anesthesia Student Interest Group, Admissions Representative for the Class of 2025, and a Rheumatology specialty clinic manager at the UCSD Student-Run Free Clinic. As a 2022-2023 UCSD Sanford Institute Summer Research Scholar, she explored themes of empathy and compassion in medical education by studying medical students’ experiences during dissection in the anatomy lab. Outside of medicine, Dr. Rao enjoys listening to podcasts, going to the beach, travelling, and exploring new restaurants with friends and family. She looks forward to working and learning at Mission Community Hospital.

Zachory Taylor, DO

Originally from Southern California, Dr. Zach Taylor earned his bachelor’s degree in Biology at Oberlin College in Ohio while playing collegiate football. He went on to attend Western University of Health Sciences COMP-NW in Lebanon, Oregon, and is thrilled to finally be back home serving the community that shaped him. Before medical school, Zach worked at one of Los Angeles’ first COVID-19 vaccination sites, an experience that deepened his commitment to public health and community care. He is passionate about pursuing a career in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, inspired by a deep appreciation for the body’s resilience and the profound connection between physical and mental wellbeing. Outside of medicine, Zach enjoys spending time with family, watching basketball and college football, grilling, cooking, traveling and playing pickleball.

Brandon Towns, MD

The son of two military veterans, Dr. Brandon Towns spent his early years moving throughout Texas and other Southern states. He eventually settled in Los Angeles, where he earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). After graduation, he stayed on campus as a research coordinator, helping to manage clinical trials focused on treating alcohol and drug addiction. Dr. Towns continued on to receive his medical degree from the Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine. As a proud member of the Black community, he is passionate about increasing healthcare access and serving historically underserved populations. Outside of medicine, Dr. Towns is a freelance photographer who enjoys exploring new locations and creative projects whenever he gets the chance.

Sona Trika, DO

Dr. Sona Trika earned her Bachelor of Arts in Cognitive Science from the University of California, Berkeley, and her medical degree from Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California. Her commitment to health equity is grounded in years of volunteer work with LGBTQ+ communities and underserved patient populations. After completing her Transitional Year at Mission Community Hospital, Dr. Trika will continue her training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at the University of California, Irvine. She is particularly passionate about brain injury rehabilitation, disability advocacy, and mentoring the next generation of physicians. A dedicated educator and advocate, Dr. Trika is excited to support medical students through both formal teaching and personalized mentorship. Outside of medicine, she enjoys hiking Southern California’s scenic trails, people-watching at local coffee shops, and pampering her calico cat with treats.

Brenda Chen, DO

Dr. Brenda Chen was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. She earned her BS in Management at Purdue University and built a career in business before a passion for patient care led her to pursue medicine. During her gap years, she conducted clinical research on pelvic congestion syndrome and served as an AmeriCorps Health Fellow in Los Angeles. Dr. Chen went on to receive her medical degree from Touro University California. She has a passion for working with pediatric populations and in dermatology and looks forward to further exploring these interests during her transitional year. Outside of medicine, she enjoys baking, golfing, traveling, and exploring new restaurants with friends and family.

Alexander Deiongh, DO

Alex was born and raised in Los Angeles, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics from UCLA. Driven by a passion for teaching and mentorship, he joined Teach for America and relocated to Las Vegas, where he taught middle and high school science for five years. During this time, his growing interest in medicine inspired him to pursue a career as a physician. He went on to attend Touro University California College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he developed a strong interest in the musculoskeletal system, point-of-care ultrasound, and rehabilitation medicine. After completing his Transitional Year, he will continue his residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at UCLA. Outside of medicine, Alex enjoys spending time with family, playing the guitar, cooking (and eating), staying active at the gym, and playing video games.

Isaiah Dowlen, MD

I was born and raised in Clarksville, TN, where I developed a strong sense of community that has continued to shape my path. I went on to attend Austin Peay State University in my hometown, earning a B.S. in Chemistry and building a solid foundation in the sciences. I then pursued my medical education at Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine in Pasadena, California. Through my medical education, I gained a deep appreciation for patient-centered care and innovation in medicine. I am excited to be returning home to Tennessee to further pursue residency training in Diagnostic Radiology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. I look forward to continually growing both clinically and academically. Outside of medicine, I enjoy traveling around the world, exploring new cultures, PC gaming, and am an avid cat-lover.

Noah Earland, MD PhD

Noah Earland hails from the suburbs of Philadelphia, PA, and graduated with a B.S. in Biology from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX. Inspired by undergraduate research at SMU, Noah spent a year as an Intramural Research Training Award (IRTA) Fellow at NIAID in Bethesda, MD, studying skin dysbiosis. He then completed a combined MD and PhD at Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine, where his research led to a novel cell-free DNA prognostic assay for head and neck cancers. During medical school, Noah also taught and mentored undergraduates and high school students interested in pursuing careers in biomedicine. Following his transitional year at Mission Community Hospital, Noah will follow his passion for cancer research and treatment by completing residency in radiation oncology at UCSF. Beyond the hospital, Noah enjoys traveling, fitness, cooking, trying new restaurants, and outdoor activities like skiing and hiking.

Natasha Holden-Hickey, DO

Dr. Holden-Hickey grew up in Southern California and earned her BS in Biological Anthropology from Boston University, followed by an MSc in Global Health and Development from University College London, before returning to California for medical school. Through her academic training and international experiences, she developed a strong commitment to social justice and innovation, working as a social determinants of health coordinator, STI testing and outreach advocate, and public and global health researcher. During medical school, she was awarded “Distinction in Innovation” for her leadership as student director of the medical innovation track, where she developed 3D-printed CPAP mask prototypes for preterm neonates and mentored fellow students. She also received multiple scholarships from the American College of Radiology, culminating in an advocacy trip to Washington, DC, where she met with policymakers to address systemic barriers to patient care. After completing her Transitional Year at Mission Community Hospital, Dr. Holden-Hickey will continue her training in Diagnostic Radiology at Loma Linda University. She has a particular interest in pediatric radiology and advancing public and global health initiatives. Outside of medicine, she enjoys reading science fiction and fantasy, exploring the ocean, traveling, attending comedy shows and movies, and spending time with her husband and dog.

Sam Houman, DO

I’m a transitional year resident matched into Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, who’s passionate about helping people stay active and get back to doing what they love. I earned my medical degree from Touro University California and previously completed a master’s in Translational Biotechnology at USC, where I spent several years doing stem cell research. I’m especially interested in musculoskeletal medicine, ultrasound, and adaptive sports. Outside of medicine, you’ll usually find me in the gym, playing ice hockey, or trying new recipes.

Rita Miwalian, DO

A Pasadena native, Rita Miwalian earned her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology from the University of California, San Diego before going on to receive her medical degree from the Western University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific. She has a strong interest in dermatology, shaped by her experience as a medical assistant in a high-volume dermatology clinic and her commitment to community outreach in skin cancer prevention and education. She also developed and introduced a dermatology education program at Western University aimed at teaching and empowering first-generation students in the Pomona Unified School District, and participated in research investigating the role of adrenergic receptors in skin inflammation. Rita is passionate about teaching, mentorship, and building meaningful connections with her patients and community. Outside of medicine, she enjoys traveling, trying new restaurants, and spending quality time with family and friends.

Ali Nabipoor, MD

Ali was born and raised in Iran, where he earned his medical degree and worked for several years as a physician before moving to the United States to further his training. After completing a 36- month postdoctoral research fellowship in the Department of Radiology at the University of Washington, Ali began his residency training. Outside of medicine, Ali enjoys swimming, going to the gym, hiking, cooking, and spending time with his family. He feels grateful to be part of Mission Community Hospital and is excited to serve the community.

Michael Phillipi, MD

Dr. Michael Phillipi grew up in Portland, Oregon, before moving to Southern California to attend UCLA, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business Economics. Following the completion of his transitional year at Mission Community Hospital, he will begin his Diagnostic Radiology residency at the University of California, Irvine. Natalie Sarafian, MD

Dr. Sarafian was born and raised in Los Angeles, and she has been a SoCal resident for her entire life. An artist at heart, she has merged her love of the humanities and medicine for years. At UCLA, she majored in Biology and minored in Middle Eastern Studies, ultimately being awarded the Dean’s Prize for her medical humanities research and graduating Summa Cum Laude. She then ventured farther south, earning her medical degree at UC San Diego School of Medicine. At UCSD, Dr. Sarafian was a Sanford Research Scholar and led multiple student interest groups, ranging from career-oriented to craft-focused. She discovered a love of mentorship, community, and medical education, as well as radiology. After completing her transitional year, Dr. Sarafian will begin her Diagnostic Radiology residency at Cedars-Sinai. Outside of school, Dr. Sarafian loves tending to her 40+ plants, hosting board game nights, reading, and picking up the newest craft.

Courtney Smith, DO

Courtney earned her BA and MS in Chemistry from the University of South Florida before completing her medical degree at UCLA. She is passionate about dermatology and research developing strategies to improve access to dermatologic care. Her clinical and research interests include acne, hidradenitis suppurativa, and health equity. She is also the founder of Glimmering Bridges, a volunteer organization that delivers personalized music players and handmade holiday cards to isolated seniors. Following her transitional year, Courtney will continue her training in dermatology at Harvard. Outside of medicine, she enjoys figure skating, programming, playing piano, and traveling to new places.

Theodore Tran, MD

Theo grew up in Los Angeles and earned his medical degree from the California University of Science and Medicine after completing his undergraduate studies in Human Biology at the University of California, San Diego, where he graduated magna cum laude. Throughout his training, he was drawn to mentorship and to helping patients improve function, health, and overall well-being. His interests in physical medicine and rehabilitation, lifestyle medicine, and ultrasound reflect his passion for caring for patients in a thoughtful, practical, and holistic way. He hopes to bring empathy, curiosity, and a strong sense of teamwork to residency. Outside of medicine, Theo enjoys Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, weightlifting, traveling, reading, and hiking.

Michelle Wang, MD

Michelle was raised in Folsom, California before moving down to Southern California to earn her degree in Psychobiology at UCLA. She then returned to Northern California to pursue her MD at UC Davis. After completing her Transitional Year Residency at Mission Community Hospital, Michelle will continue her training at UCLA for diagnostic radiology. She is interested in medical education and improving the patient experience with imaging. Outside of medicine, she enjoys trying new coffee shops, spoiling her cat Papaya, and spending quality time with friends and family.
